Priča prati Rejmonda Barouna (Raymond Barone - ulogu tumaci Ray Romano) i njegovu šašavu porodicu. Rejmond, sportski kolumnista i šaljivdžija po vokaciji, je ljubimac njegove majke Mari (Doris Roberts), koja ga ne ostavlja na miru ni u kasnim 30-tim godinama, što izluđuje kako njega lično tako i njegovu ženu Debru (Patricia Heaton)...za uspeh čitave priče zaslužni su i deca Džefri, Majkl i Eli, kao i Rejmondov ogromno/nezgrapni i večito ljubomorni brat Robert (Brad Garrett) i matoro gunđalo od oca, Frenk (Peter Boyle), koji i dodaje ono "nesto" ovoj seriji zbog čega je i potrajala 9 sezona.
