Ovo je priča o Samu Sullivanu (Bret Harrison), najmlađem voditelju odjela u sjedištu velike avionske kompanije TransAlliance Airways u Chicagu i momku koji se prvi iz svojeg društva zaposlio. Osim što se na radnom mjestu svakodnevno bori s manijakalnim šefom Russom (Philip Baker Hall) te starijom i lijepom kolegicom Meryl (Mimi Rogers), Sam se ne može pohvaliti ni sa svoja tri cimera s kojima bi trebao dijeliti zabavniju stranu života. U iznajmljenom stanu Sam već nekoliko godina živi sa svojim starijim i bedastijim bratom Sullyjem koji nikako ne može naći neki "normalan" posao, s Piper, nezaposlenom studenticom medicine i dugogodišnjom simpatijom, te s neopisivo zgodnom Lizzy koja radi kao konobarica u njihovom omiljenom baru.
