Trevor Hejl je privlačan, dosetljiv, i neobično inteligentan - i mogao bi biti Kupid, grčkorimski bog ljubavi. Vjerovatno nije, mada on vjeruje da jeste. Trevorovo insistiranje na tome da je Kupid dovodi ga u bolnicu za mentalno obolele, gdje se upoznaje sa psihologom Kler Alen, slavnim stručnjakom u sferi romantike. Trevor objašnjava Kler kako mu je Zevs oduzeo sve božje moći i protjerao ga sa planine Olimpa kao kaznu za njegovu drskost. Da bi ponovo zaslužio svoje mjesto među bogovima, Trevor mora da ujedini 100 parova u vječnoj ljubavi bez pomoći svog luka i strele. Kler ne vjeruje u Kupida, ali rizikuje svoju karijeru kad pušta Trevora iz bolnice preuzimajući ličnu odgovornost za njegovo ponašanje. Trevor pronalazi posao kao šanker i redovno prekida Kler u njenim grupnim terapijskim sesijama. I sve vrjeme planira svoju promotivnu kampanju romantike i pridobijanju mjesta na Olimpu. Dok ohrabruje druge na seksualnu neobuzdanost, Trevor se obavezuje na celibat; vjeruje da će ga seks sa smrtnikom zauvjek vezati za Zemlju.
