Jack Costello (Bud Spencer) é um polícia aposentado e agora detetive particular que vive em Miami, que lida com uma infinidade de casos para clientes incomuns. Ao seu lado estão o velho amigo da polícia Sam Bosley (Lou Bedford) e o cartunista que se tornou um caldeiro Jean Philippe Dumas (Philip Michael Thomas), que está usando Costello como uma influência e apelidou o detetive corpulento de "Extralarge". Na segunda série, Costello enfrenta outros casos perigosos, novamente com Bosley e Archibald (Michael Winslow), filho de um velho amigo, que Costello é divertido apelido de "Dumas".
